Nigerian city model

Harmattan ships with a curated city list in weather-data.js.

Each city contains a name, geopolitical zone, latitude, longitude, and an optional featured flag.

Current coverage

Lagos, Abuja, Kano, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Enugu, Kaduna, Calabar, Benin City, Jos, Owerri, Uyo, Abeokuta, Warri, Sokoto, Maiduguri, Ilorin, Onitsha, Aba, and Akure.

Why coordinates live locally

Harmattan does not call a geocoding API when a user searches. It searches the curated set and uses known coordinates.

That keeps city coverage predictable, avoids another API dependency, and preserves consistent Nigerian zone labels. The trade-off is equally clear: a city outside the curated data cannot be discovered dynamically.

Adding a city

Add a record to CITIES with verified coordinates. Coordinate accuracy is of utmost importance because the weather API will faithfully return conditions for whatever location those numbers actually represent.
